When Russell Brand was let back in Japan...

So one rather astute follower has just reminded me that I haven't posted about the night I went to town dressed as a man!
So here it is.

My friend Harry (also from England) apparently has a soft spot for dressing up as a woman. For his 21st birthday he had a transgender party, and it seemed as if he was determined to keep this theme going when he came out to Japan. So for his 23rd birthday, we were all invited to join him on a night out in town, dressed in our finest outfits. I say finest - obviously the finest cross-dressing outfits we could muster.

My man of choice to style myself on?! Russell Brand apparently. The main reasons for my choice was the fact I have long hair, hard to hide when being a man. So I decided to embrace this look, and with greasy birds nest haired Russell Brand, I couldn't go wrong.

Here's the results of my efforts.

It was actually a really hilarious night. I was hoping that people would take it seriously and dress up as best they could, but I didn't realise how far some people would decide to go. All of the boys looked absolutely, well, they definitely made an effort let's put it that way! Harry shaved his legs and Broc went so far as to shave his legs, arms and armpits (a feat which we were told about constantly throughout the night!)

So I'm not going to go into much detail. Just give you the photos to paint the picture for you. One thing I would like to mention though is how much people thought I looked like a man! A group of us went to an izakaya before we went to the bar, and I ended up sitting at the far end of the table. As different people arrived it was funny to watch them going through the motions - looking down the table and saying 'Hi' to everyone, then sitting down and looking at everyone's effort again, and then seeing the realisation on their faces and hearing the 'Oh my god! Is that Liz?!?!' It cracked me up every time! Although to this day I'm still not sure whether I should feel proud of my look or worried that I could pull it off so easily!

Anyway, enjoy the photos! =)
